Chef D'Arcy's Soul Food
We have a new black and white sign over our food service window. It says, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24” The numerous changes and improvements that we are making in food service at Campus by the Sea have one goal—to bless and serve our guests and staff so that they may come into a deeper and true personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Kitchen Improvements
This past year we renovated our kitchen, adding two new walk-in freezers and a new, bigger, and more efficient dishwasher (that we received for free). Our new commercial coffee grinder enables us to serve fresh ground French Market coffee from New Orleans. We replaced Styrofoam cups and bowls with ecologically friendly melamine cups and bowls. We also offer a hot paper cup for those who want to take their coffee or tea with them.
Menu Changes
We want to redefine the meaning of “camp food.” Our new recipes call for whole wheat flour and fresh fruits and vegetables. We have returned to the culinary roots of Campus by the Sea and turned our back on packaged pre-made food and beverage items. Out with the artificial fruit punch and in with real fresh made lemonade and brewed ice teas. Soups and sauces are only made from our own recipes. Fresh baked breads, cookies, and cinnamon rolls have always been a part of CBS. We want to preserve and grow that legend.
You can now find some of our most popular recipes on our website. More will be added periodically so check it out frequently.
Culinary Arts Training
Cooking is a ministry that the Lord can use to bless others. For those who want to explore this ministry further, contact us about future Culinary Academy weekends. Check this page to learn about last year’s event.
In addition we will offer complimentary cooking classes for our InterVarsity Staff, in order to help them to prepare fast, affordable and healthy meals for students as a part of their campus ministry.
We want to thank everyone who supports the ministry of Campus by the Sea and we look forward to exploring the ministry of Soul Food.
Blessings Always
