Summer Facilities Staff Job Description

Though contact with campers is limited, a significant way to impact them is through serving them. This is done by maintaining the facility of Campus by the Sea in a wide variety of areas. The hard work and long hours required in these areas is rewarded by long lasting friendships with the other staff you live and labor with as well as the satisfaction of knowing you’ve made a warm and friendly place for families to grow.

• Kitchen Staff: Meals are made from scratch, including bread which is baked several times daily. The kitchen staff works hard to meet the three most important deadlines in camp: breakfast, lunch and dinner! We need those who enjoy working hard and can work closely together in a cozy kitchen with others. The kitchen staff is also responsible to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas. Our kitchen staff is important to us, and one that works well together is truly a blessing.
• Dining Room Hosts: These staff members work closely with the campers in assisting them with Opportunity to Serve (OTS). Campers participate in washing dishes after each meal and resetting the tables for the next meal. The Dining Room Hosts assist and supervise campers in OTS and maintaining the cleanliness of the Dining Room. Dining Room Hosts must be friendly, outgoing and enjoy working with people.
• Grounds/Waterfront Crew: The crew serve in many areas. They handle light facility maintenance such as daily cleaning of the bath pavilion, cabin cleaning and trash collection. The crew also helps unload groceries and supplies from camp boats. They ensure the safety of the campers on the beach and in the boats. Serving on crew requires a willingness to work hard and serve with a good attitude. Crew members must be willing to train for first aid, CPR and life-guarding certificates.
• Snack Shop Staff: The camp snack shop is open every afternoon and evening. Responsibilities include keeping the store clean, neat and well stocked. Snack Shop staff must be friendly, outgoing and enjoy chatting with customers.
