Board of Directors

Campus by the Sea, Inc. is led by people who love CBS and have participated in its ministry for years. It is a “grassroots” endeavor to grow Christian camping ministry in Gallagher’s Cove for generations to come. Our lives have been impacted significantly because of the ministry of CBS. We want to continue that life-changing ministry.

President - Jim Wilson

Jim first visited Campus by the Sea CBS as a college student in 1970. He joined the staff of InterVarsity in 1973. For the next four years, Jim relied upon CBS as a resource for discipling students, training student leaders, and strategic planning events. Jim then worked in marketing and sales of computer systems for 16 years. During that time, CBS Family Camps became significant and formative times for him and his family including his wife Connie and three daughters. In 1994, Jim transitioned into a new career of ordained pastoral ministry where CBS served as a place for staff and leadership retreats, confirmation classes, and men’s and women’s retreats. After retiring in 2015, Jim joined the Executive Board for the Center for Enriching Relationships and serves as a member of the CBS Advisory Council.

CBS Executive Director - Rod Fletcher

Rod and his wife Heather have a long history with Campus by the Sea (CBS). Rod first fell in love with CBS as a kid at Family Camp in 1974. Rod worked on staff during college, where his faith and love for Jesus was solidified. As newlyweds, Rod and Heather worked on summer staff together, and as parents, CBS Family Camp played a vital role in their parenting, their marriage, and in fostering the faith of their three boys. All three of their boys have worked on staff at CBS and have a deep love for camp and for Jesus. Rod holds a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education from Wheaton College, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Covenant College, and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary.  Rod served as the Head of School for The Brook Hill School in Tyler, Texas, for 19 years before taking the helm of Campus by the Sea in 2023. He has a proven track record in delivering God-honoring Christian education, significantly growing enrollment, and raising capital to fund state-of-the-art facility growth. Rod’s legacy with CBS runs deep. His grandmother, Betty Fletcher, was part of the team that founded the camp in the 1950s. Campus by the Sea is Rod’s favorite place on earth – and not just because he loves to fish.  It is at CBS that Rod “comes away, meets God, and is renewed.”

From his time at West Point, to a bid for U.S. Congress, and his work in several key national non-profits, Dennis has always been on a path aimed toward public service. But his life’s course took an unexpected turn, when his beloved son, Nate, suddenly passed away. Nate’s favorite place in the world was Campus by the Sea. After his son’s death, Dennis’s focus turned outward — from his ambitions to others. Today his life’s mission is to impart courage to others through business coaching, writing books, and podcasts at DennisMansfield.com. He and his wife of 43 years, Susan, have been a part of small group leadership at Campus by the Sea for 37 years. For three summers from 2011 to 2013, Susan and Dennis volunteered full-time at CBS as the Deans to the College Staff, helping coach, mentor and lead. Dennis and Susan’s daughter, Meg, was engaged at CBS to her husband, Caleb; son, Colin, met his wife Hannah at CBS. Campus by the Sea is in their family’s DNA. Three generations of Mansfields have now been attending CBS.
