Directions to CBS

Campus by the Sea is located in a secluded cove on Catalina Island, just off the coast of southern California. The only direct access is by boat; we have no road access. If you are coming to CBS for a camp, chances are we have chartered a Catalina Express boat to bring all the guests to CBS on one boat. The Express boats tie up directly to our pier to offload guests.

Smaller groups may go straight into Avalon on a non-charter Express boat. These boats leave the mainland from Long Beach, Dana Point and San Pedro. We either pick up guests with our own powerboats or use a Shore Boat service from Avalon to bring you to CBS (Avalon is about 2.5 miles southeast from CBS along the coast).

Please check with your group coordinator to find out which terminal you will use to depart from the mainland.

For information about Catalina Express including directions to their terminals and their schedule of operation, please see the Catalina Express website.

Also, here is a Google Map of Campus by the Sea and Departure Ports.

For those groups that come to camp via public ferry and need to transfer to shore boats in Avalon, refer to the local area map for Avalon Bay below.

Smaller groups that come via ticketed Express to Avalon may wish to add on an Avalon excursion to their retreat. Ask how this could work for your group's reservation. For group leaders, here are some recommendations for Cheap Eats in Avalon.
